Cloth & Chalk was built by a custom clothier who grew tired of one persistent problem: no tool on the market could give a truly accurate yardage estimate. Every order meant guessing, padding the number, and hoping for the best — which meant wasted fabric, wasted money, and wasted time.
So we built the tool we always wanted. Enter your body or finished-garment measurements, pick your fabric width, and get an accurate yardage estimate — along with a to-scale cutting layout showing how the pattern pieces fit across the cloth. No guesswork. No excess. No shortfall.
Cloth & Chalk is built for working tailors, custom clothiers, and anyone having a suit, sport coat, trousers, waistcoat, or dress shirt made. Whether you're ordering fabric for a client or quoting a commission, the calculator gives you a reliable starting estimate — one you can actually trust.
Estimates account for piece layout across your chosen fabric width — 54″, 58″, or 60″ — and for different style options like patch pockets, turn-ups, and three-piece configurations. Results will always vary slightly by tailor, seam allowances, and working method, but we get you as close as possible.
We're building a full tailor's toolkit: client profiles, saved measurements, order history, and fabric swatches — everything in one place so nothing gets lost between fittings. The calculator is the first piece. Join the waitlist on the main page to hear when the app launches.
